Architecture with residual and alternative materials
On our planet there are not enough houses and there is a lot of waste. Marta Soriano travels the 5 continents and offers us tools to solve both problems. She has carried out exhaustive research on the various housing construction systems, based on what we call waste, which she observes as valuable resources.
Marta offers us detailed construction manuals, transmits her own experience and encourages us to create houses in an alternative, original, paradigmatic and respectful way with the planet.
A deep and extensive journey through the history of construction with waste, which began its journey at the dawn of civilization.
Now the old social and economic structures are becoming obsolete. We are faced with a challenging situation in which we urgently reinvent our habits, our way of living, of consuming, of creating and building.
The architecture with waste is an excellent alternative to the current problems and is breaking with force objectifying the ways of working, reusing tires, containers, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and glass ... even the most current waste.
You can build any space: for family, children, social, business, religious, playful ... there is no limit. We have many examples and many references collected in this book.
"Consume less" is a message that Marta leaves us in this work, pointing out from the beginning that we are nature, we come from it and we belong to it.
The art and recycling workshops promote the leisure spirit, the concern for the environment, the constant experimentation, among others. The student has the possibility to create, as the artist, from certain elements and materials previously selected, and all of them of rejection. It can reach the discovery of some other values and all this can generate in the student a change of attitude in different matters. In the workshops, the student submerges himself in the adventure of art and tries to create "useless" objects, after analyzing a series of expressive mechanisms. In other words, he experimented with some unusual materials in the school and in ways that previously disconcerted him, to enter his personal universe of creativity and, at the same time, restore communication with the environment, with esthetics and thought of his time.
Surely, through this Teaching Guide, which includes programs that are adaptable to each month of the school year, and which describes the example of each particular workshop, we can have fun respecting the environment and people, so that the plastic arts are more special what ever
These environmental education workshops can also be used as complementary activities for events of public interest, such as: green week, land day, etc. or popular celebrations, such as Christmas, Easter, Carnival, etc., and serve as a point of connection between these and the environment.
